GUITAR LEGENDS, LARRY CARLTON AND ROBBEN FORD, TOUR TOGETHER
Nashville, TN, January 28, 2008: Two guitar legends, one stage - On Feb. 27th Larry Carlton and Robben Ford start the US leg of a tour that began last year in Korea and has already toured through Australia and Europe. Supporting the release of their album "Larry Carlton with Special Guest Robben Ford, Live in Tokyo" this is a show that guitar lovers and blues fans alike will not want to miss.
Carlton and Ford first met in the early 70s while Ford was touring with Joni Mitchell. From there they began playing in small jazz clubs in North Hollywood, California. Since then the two have been following each other careers and have remain close friends. When asked why they did the album Carlton says, "Over the years people kept asking when Robben (Ford) and I were going to make a record. So we finally did it." The album was release under Carlton's label, 335 Records.
Larry Carlton is a sixteen time Grammy nominee, three time Grammy winner and guitar great that has played on over a 100 albums that have gone gold or platinum. Carlton's studio credits musicians and groups such as Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton, Sammy Davis Jr, and literally dozens of others. Carlton's career spans three decades with 26 albums to his credit.
At the age of 18, Robben Ford was playing with the likes of Charlie Musslewhite, Jimmy Witherspoon, George Harrison, and Joni Mitchell. Ford is a founding member of the group "Yellowjackets," which he stayed with until 1983. After that, Ford began touring with greats such as Miles Davis, Sadao Watanabe, and Little Feet, but then soon realized that his passion was towards his roots of blues. Ford just recently received a Grammy nomination for "Best Contemporary Blues Album."
Together the two pair a unique pairing of two all-time legendary guitarists. The tour promises to deliver unforgettable evenings of dueling guitar solos and an evening of the blues performed the way it was meant to be.
